I am Rudolf Ruder, son of holocaust survivors after liberation and author of The Long Journey to Cleveland. I share my parents’ extraordinary journey, from my father Simon’s survival of Auschwitz, Dachau, and Mühldorf to my mother Marile’s childhood in Nazi Germany. Their unlikely love after liberation, journey to Cleveland, and resilience inspired me to preserve their story, honoring survivors and the human side of World War II for future generations.
